Whenever we work with clients here at Urban Wellness, every first session starts with an in-depth 90-minute health and lifestyle assessment. We want to know about your health from the moment you were born until now, as well as any relevant familial health history, what you are currently eating (we ask you to complete a three day food diary), if and how you are moving, how well you sleep (or don’t) but also any emotional factors. Any significant life events that may have played or are playing a role in your health such as divorce, stress at work, bereavement, trauma or anxiety.
Why do we ask all these questions? First and foremost we want to understand you. What makes you you, where did your health issues start so that we can work back to the root cause.
And in order for us to guide you back to place of wellness and good health, we need to work with all three pillars of health
These pillars are fundamental, and are interlinked. For example:
- Changes in our gut (physiological) as a result of stress (psychological) can cause bloating and pain (physical)
- Or anxiety (psychological) can send the body into fight or flight mode (physiological) and cause headaches, dizziness and diarrhoea (physical)
Therefore, when working with clients we don’t just look at your diet (although that obviously pays a big part) but we will also work with you to recommend other elements that help to bring your three pillars into balance. This may include:
Ways to help you improve your sleep
Movement in your day such as walking or yoga
Breathwork
Journaling
Meditation
Hypnotherapy
Creating a self care routine
We also work alongside and can recommend other excellent therapists and practitioners in areas such as EMDR, EFT, counselling, psychotherapy, acupuncture, osteopathy and chiropractic.
Wellness is more than what you eat – it needs all three pillars to be in better balance. Start your health journey today and book a free discovery call with one of the team to find out more.
